In an unexpected but eyebrow-raising moment, The Dillinger Escape Plan welcomed former Every Time I Die frontman Keith Buckley onstage during their December 12 show at The Belasco in Los Angeles, CA.
Buckley, now the vocalist for Many Eyes, joined the band for a cover of Nine Inch Nails’ “Wish”, before sticking around for a set-closing performance of Dillinger’s own “43% Burnt”. While the collaboration itself isn’t unprecedented — the band has previously performed “Wish” with Buckley as far back as 2009 — the timing and context of the appearance adds a layer of intrigue.
Every Time I Die’s highly publicized split in early 2022 left Buckley at odds with the rest of the band, with four-fifths of the lineup uniting against him during the breakup. Buckley would go on to form Many Eyes, while guitarist Jordan Buckley, bassist Steve Micciche, and drummer Clayton “Goose” Holyoak launched Better Lovers alongside former Dillinger vocalist Greg Puciato.
That connection is where things become particularly notable. The Dillinger Escape Plan initially disbanded in 2017 following a farewell tour, only to reunite in 2023 with original vocalist Dimitri Minakakis back in the fold. Since reforming, the band has distanced itself from Puciato, with guitarist Ben Weinman previously stating that the group “do not share the same values as Greg.”
While all parties involved have largely kept things respectful in public, fans have continued to speculate about the visible divide between Dillinger’s current lineup and their former frontman. Against that backdrop, Buckley’s appearance onstage inevitably feels loaded — even if no explicit statement was intended.
Weinman addressed the moment briefly on social media following the show:
“This is not the first we did this @nineinchnails song with the mighty Keith Buckley. What an epic night!”
The Dillinger Escape Plan are wrapping up their West Coast run this weekend with the following dates:
12/13 Santa Ana, CA – The Observatory
12/14 San Francisco, CA – Regency Ballroom

It’s the evil version of better lovers, worse haters
Justin Ellison Bitter Livers
I dont know
I didn’t know that the Player Haters Ball played live shows…

Greg Detar
This isn’t ironic.
Ehhhh
So “more better lovers”
The losers tour. 🙄
Damn, most of ya’ll must be tired as fuck carrying this grudge for so long. All the guys went their separate ways and moved on, why can’t any of you?
Edit: I enjoy all 3 bands now. Is that possible?
A A Ron King dead ass
A A Ron King it still hurts tho lol
I know, but it gave us 3 great bands. I always thought they had that rare lineup where everyone in the band was very talented.
A A Ron King Keith hasn’t moved on one bit. If you would have been paying attention you would understand that. This, everything Many Eyes, and the collab with Barbarians says exactly the opposite of what you’re saying.
James Ireland lost me at “if you would have been paying attention” and then went on to tell me how YOU INTERPRETED that collab. Don’t need to be condescending. Go somewhere else.
A A Ron King interpreted? Are you really choosing willful ignorance?
James Ireland you’re looking to get offended and an argument. I’m traveling today. Don’t have the time.
A A Ron King im with you on that and i have seen them all live. Amazing.
Robert Eriksen I keep missing Better Lovers. Every time they play a Buffalo show, I’m out of town. In NC this time.
A A Ron King I’m not offended. I’m telling you how it is. You’re not even a member of any of the groups. You have no idea how personal with the fans the members of ETID always were and how Better Lovers has carried on that tradition. You haven’t even see Better Lovers yet? Just sit out this one. Safe travels.
James Ireland boarding now. Just gotta ask, what band are you in? Acting like you have all the story. Worked with a personal friend of all the guys and she mentioned there’s a lot of things people are assuming and don’t know. Juat sit this one out??? I’ll gladly sit out the kid’s game. Gonna be with the adults over here. Enjoy your day!
A A Ron King I guess 4/5 of ETID were wrong then.
A A Ron King I can’t get into better lovers on record but fun live. Don’t really care for many eyes either. It’s missing something but the opinions and comments on anything pertaining to something that doesn’t involve them is clownish. Every time I die will always be my favorite band. People are insufferable.
Lmfao better lovers vs Dillinger, love to see it.
“While the collaboration itself isn’t unprecedented — the band has previously performed “Wish” with Buckley as far back as 2009 —“ people just love soap operas so let’s make it dramatic
B Michael Kroeger given The circumstances on why better lovers and many eyes exist, this is actually pretty crazy.
Jimmy Goodtime maybe if it happened 2 years ago.
B Michael Kroeger what? Bro Keith Buckley’s own brother kicked him out of every time I die like what are you talking about and I don’t remember when they put out their last album the one with the planet s*** on it I forgot the radical is what it was called but I’m pretty sure it was in the last five years cuz that was her last record and then they were on tour and like I play music and like I’m in the business so like I like I know people and like it’s just weird that like because the guys in in the new band with with p**** Otto from from Dillinger we’re in every time I die with Keith Buckley and I’ll agree to kick him out of the band but whatever dude like of course I don’t know what I’m talking about cuz there’s some random nude on Facebook who probably can’t even play music and I mean I literally this week have probably put in 90 hours on rehearsals on on guitar stuff that I have to learn just saying dude like you know what I mean like what have you done like like and I’m not being a dick dude you just come at me with something stupid and it’s just like people don’t even know what the f*** they’re commenting on and then when doing is you’re broke up like you have to get into this whole story on f******
Patrick McGeehan
Dillinger was dope 20 years ago
Keith…an all time great vocalist and a good dude.
It’s funny seeing people take sides in shit that has nothing to do with them lol

Ryan Wry Mantione Not gonna lie. They look cool sharing the same stage. But, I like the fact that Dillinger are just having fun out there playing their old stuff. With no worries about new album or things like that
Antonio Yáñez essentially retiring
Of course cuz The Dillinger Escape Plan (anymore) and Many Eyes can’t capture what Better Lovers established immediately
keith buckley will always be goated.
Clinton Kaley Bro. Many Eyes definitely showed that the instrumentals were the driving force behind ETID’s success.
Skyler Joe Boles nah.
you’ll never convince me that buckley isnt ones of the greatest vocalists and lyricists of all time.
i like many eyes, its no etid, but its not dogshit.
keith buckley is godlike and can never be fw.
all-time favorite frontman.
🤷🏻♂️
Skyler Joe Boles the damned things showcase buckleys vocal and lyrical talents like a mf too.
esp on ironiclast.
what was the reason the guys parted ways with Greg??
Jennifer Noble If I remember Greg stepped away focusing on other projects, then BL
Jennifer Noble Greg never parted ways, they initially retired the band, but decided to reform with the old singer to celebrate the fact he never got to play his album live in front of bigger crowds, and for the anniversary.
Ashley Webb Greg was asked about an eventual reunion and he said there were no plans. Shortly after Ben came out and said Greg wasn’t in a position to confirm or deny reunion shows as he is not part of the band and was as good as a hired gun for the entirety of his DEP tenure. Both Greg and Ben (and Liam and Billy) had pursued side projects whilst being active with DEP.
Victor Castillo Rios yeah I know this lol
Ashley Webb if you know it you should tell us 🤣
Victor Castillo Rios Ben sounds like an asshole.
Robert Eriksen I mean it’s common knowledge, it was mentioned in an interview by Ben
Terry Carpenter it does seem like everything he’s done with Dillinger has been to spite Greg. Greg was asked about DEP and then Ben was like nah, it’s my band and you know what, we’re back together. Rightfully, people claim 30 under 13 is about Ben’s childish behavior.
Jennifer Noble the other comments I believe are correct, but I also get the vibe that Greg Puciato was never really an “official” member of Dillinger, kind of in the same vein of what happened with Sergio Vega and Deftones
I feel so cheated that ETID didn’t get to do 1 goddamn tour of Radical!!!
Sean Lopez They did tour on Radical…they broke up during it though.
Jesse Harms I was screwed either way… no CA dates. I had tickets to the Underoath tour whe. They were supposed to be main support.
That’s rough, I caught them headlining with ’68 and Candy a few weeks before they split. Super fortunate to have gotten to see some of those songs live. Especially with ’68 involved.
Sean Lopez i saw them on their radical tour, have a long sleeve from it too.. like a week later they broke up
Zachary John Wilkowski that tour didn’t roll through CA. 😥
Travis Williams
It’s like reverse Better Lovers. Reverse Haters?
Worse Haters
Ironic or iconic?
Why is this ironic?
Can we all talk about the multiple Christmas themed parties? Who fuckin cares. Let’s rock. Give kids toys. Have fun.
Damn, it’s TDEP Vs Better Lovers
Many eyes if they made good music?????
I just saw a DEP live a few months back and while they were great, it doesn’t hold a candle to when I saw them with Greg back in the day. Stating that it was a wild show, would be an understatement.
Every time Many Lovers Dillinger Escape Plan Eyes.
Phil Altree thank you. My answer would have been much more honest if you catch my drift. I’ve been listening to all these dudes for 20+ years. It’s like metal fans who have never heard of messhugah
Someone on another post called it “wife swap” and I think that’s hilarious
Tim Mahoney first thing I thought of. I feel like Greg is the cool wife that just wants to live life.
I would absolutely fuck with this project
Caught these guys and the Locust together 20 years ago pretty amazing concert …Kung Fu drumming and strobe lights will send you into an epileptic seizure👊👽🤘
If ETID had to die for Better Lovers to live, I’m fine with it.
And BL will be bigger than TDEP ever was.
Aaron Petersen hard disagree
Jon Presley very hard disagree
Aaron Petersen this is hilarious
Two bands that made me love metal as a kid. This is a dream come true
Holy F… Best singer they can get. So glad to see him back on the stage again.. So underrated.
Wouldn’t it be absolutely fantastic is Keith joined Dillinger and started a band called Worse Haters 🤣🤣🤣 I know it’s a joke and all, but that would be the ideal punch in the gut. Although ETID was more my cup of tea, and Better Lovers IS sick, I’ve always loved DEP and Many Eyes as well. Just the “wife swap” thing would be hilarious
Greg’s a douche, Dillinger was better and is now better without him
Pettier Lovers
Ex Every Time I Die / current Many Eyes vocalist Keith Buckley…
