Former Fear Factory members Christian Olde Wolbers and Raymond Herrera have rebranded their Angst Fabrik project as Machines Of Hate. The new working title has a direct connection to Fear Factory history, while Wolbers and Herrera are now listed as confirmed members of the project.

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root has given a candid assessment of the band’s 2022 album ‘The End, So Far’, calling the record “disjointed and a mess” while pointing to the COVID-19 pandemic and other circumstances that made the creative process difficult. Root also discussed the band’s approach to its forthcoming eighth album, revealing that the group is experimenting with different approaches rather than attempting to recreate albums such as ‘Iowa’ or ‘Slipknot’. The new record is currently being recorded with producer Matt Wallace and is expected in 2027.
Misery Index are currently tracking their eighth studio album, which is planned for a 2027 release through Season of Mist. The trailer and full track listing have been revealed for ‘Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning’, the upcoming theatrical film documenting the historic July 2025 farewell concert for Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. The 2-hour, 38-minute film features performances from Black Sabbath and Osbourne alongside Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Pantera, Tool, Slayer, Alice in Chains, Gojira, Mastodon, Lamb of God and numerous other artists. The concert would ultimately become Ozzy Osbourne’s final live performance before his death just weeks later.
Silly Goose frontman Jackson Foster recently crashed a Denny’s corporate conference to campaign for a potential collaboration between the nü-metal revivalists and the restaurant chain’s iconic Grand Slam breakfast. Foster later revealed that the stunt has led to open communication between the band and Denny’s, potentially putting an official collaboration on the table. The band, known for its unconventional guerrilla performances, is currently touring with Cheem, Hotbox and Muttlee.
Split Chain have canceled their immediate shows in Long Island, New York and New Brunswick, New Jersey following the death of guitarist Jake Reid’s father, Brian. The band said funeral arrangements made the scheduled performances impossible and asked fans to send their support to Reid and his family while honoring Brian’s important role in Reid’s musical life.

The Acacia Strain guitarist and vocalist Devin Shidaker has launched a new doom metal project called Spirit Wound, handling the writing, performances, recording and production himself. The project has debuted with the 10-plus-minute single “The Light Refuses Me,” a deeply personal track Shidaker says was shaped by grief following a year of personal loss and tragedy. The song is currently streaming on Bandcamp, with a wider release on additional platforms expected next week.
Australian progressive metalcore band Northlane have announced an extensive 2027 North American headlining tour in support of their forthcoming album ‘Anemoia’. The trek will begin February 12 in Sacramento and run through March 18 in Portland, with Allt, Aviana and Reliqa joining the tour as opening acts. The band will also play a major Australian headlining run with After The Burial, Cenobia and Above, Below, followed by European and U.K. dates with Dayseeker and Siamese.
