The uncertainty surrounding Sid Wilson’s future with Slipknot continues, but the turntablist recently appeared to indicate that he still considers himself part of the masked metal outfit.
During this week’s The World Scratch Invitational, where Wilson served as a co-host, he took the stage and introduced himself by name while also identifying himself as DJ Starscream/#0 of Slipknot.
“What’s up ya’ll? Sid, DJ Starscream/#0, from the world famous Slipknot, how ya’ll doing tonight?”
That introduction comes amid conflicting information regarding Wilson’s current relationship with the band.
Back on July 31st, TMZ reported that Wilson had been removed from Slipknot on a permanent basis. However, guitarist Jim Root soon appeared to push back against the report, telling fans not to accept everything they read and suggesting that additional information would eventually emerge.
No official confirmation of Wilson’s status has been issued by either the musician or Slipknot.
TMZ subsequently stood by its original report, alleging that issues involving Wilson’s treatment of his bandmates played a role in his reported departure. Around the same time, Kelly Osbourne, Wilson’s former fiancée, posted a series of cryptic messages online that appeared to reference the situation.
With no definitive statement from Slipknot or Wilson, his appearance at The World Scratch Invitational provides another intriguing piece to an increasingly unclear situation. For now, however, Wilson publicly presenting himself as a member of Slipknot is the clearest indication yet of how he is identifying himself.
Timestamped footage of his introduction can be viewed below.
