After several weeks of conflicting reports and statements, longtime Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson has seemingly confirmed that he is no longer a member of the masked metal band.
Reports of Wilson being permanently removed from Slipknot first surfaced on July 31st, when TMZ reported that the longtime member had been fired. A subsequent report from the outlet claimed that the decision stemmed from Wilson’s treatment of his bandmates.
The situation became increasingly unclear in the weeks that followed. Members of the Slipknot camp and those close to the group pushed back against the initial reports, while Wilson himself continued to publicly identify as a member of the band.
That changed on August 14th, when Slipknot briefly posted an official statement announcing that Wilson was no longer associated with the group. The statement was subsequently deleted, adding another layer of uncertainty to the situation.
Members of the band’s camp then appeared to clarify or walk back some of their earlier comments, leaving the status of Wilson somewhat murky once again.
Now, Wilson has seemingly provided his own answer.
Rather than issuing a formal statement, Wilson has quietly updated the biography on his Instagram account. His bio now lists his tenure with Slipknot as “@slipknot 1997-2026”, effectively acknowledging that his time with the band has come to an end.
The update marks the clearest indication yet from Wilson himself that he has departed Slipknot.
Wilson was one of the defining members of Slipknot‘s classic nine-member lineup, joining the group in 1997 and becoming particularly well known for his unpredictable and dangerous antics during the band’s live performances.
His tenure spanned the group’s rise from the late 1990s through its evolution into one of the biggest acts in modern metal, making his apparent departure a significant change for the longtime lineup.
At this point, neither Wilson nor Slipknot has provided an extensive public explanation for the split, leaving the circumstances surrounding his departure unclear.
